Buy or Renew Health Plan by Dec. 23 for Jan. 1, 2015 Coverage

Open enrollment — the time when individuals can purchase health insurance — will last through Feb. 15, 2015. But you need to sign up before then if you want coverage to start January 1 or you want to take full advantage of federal financial help (also known as tax credits or subsidies) to help with the cost of your plan.

Bottom line: Whatever plan you’re signing up for, if you complete the process by Dec. 23, 2014, your coverage will begin on Jan. 1, 2015.

When Do You Want Coverage To Start?

One important difference is that, when you purchase a plan directly from LifeWise without a subsidy, your coverage can begin either at the start of the month (1st) or middle of the month (15th). But if you’re getting a plan with a subsidy, your coverage can only begin on the first day of the next month.

Renewal Options for LifeWise Members

• If you purchased directly through LifeWise last year and are happy with your current health plan, you don’t have to do a thing this enrollment period. LifeWise will automatically re-enroll you in the same plan for 2015 to avoid gaps in coverage. If you want to change plans, call us at 844-299-5433 and we can walk you through your options.
• If you purchased through Washington Healthplanfinder last year and wish to renew your current plan, log in to your Washington Healthplanfinder account and confirm your 2015 health plan selection. If you want your 2015 coverage to be effective on Jan. 1, 2015 you must confirm your 2015 health plan selection by Dec. 23, 2014.

If you don’t log in to your account, Washington Healthplanfinder will not be able to renew your current LifeWise plan and you will have to start over with the enrollment process.
